Giving

It constantly feels like
I’m giving to no avail.

That despite pouring my heart and soul,
All I do is fail.

And that makes it harder
To give the next time.
To ignore that burdening question,
Is it worth it this time?

The world takes for granted people who give.
Yet the world seems to eventually recognize their gifts.

But what if eventually is too far gone?
What if that person doesn’t make it that far?

Appreciating each other is essential for life.
Reciprocating love is what keeps us alive.
